A mid-level position. The Role-Playing Game Writer I, working with other staff members, develops, documents and updates our TR-based role-playing game adventures and related documents. Adventures are created for in-company projects, and created on a client-facility-specific basis as needed. MUST HAVE CURRENT CTRS, AND EXTENSIVE RPG WRITING EXPERIENCE.

Reports to: Senior Program Planner

General Purpose

The Role-Playing Game Writer I will work with staff (and optionally clients) to create RPG adventures for our program plans following Therapeutic Recreation methodologies and processes.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Writing must comply with RPG Therapeutics processes, methodologies, and policies (based heavily on TR).
  • Writer will work extensively with Program Plan Designer, Game Masters, and other staff members to optimize adventure design and documentation for maximum benefit to participants.
  • Assist Game Masters and other specialists in preparing adventures and activities in accordance with RPG Therapeutics rules and guidelines, including GM and Player Codes of Conduct.
  • Customize program plan adventures to meet client's assessed needs.
  • Periodically report to other RPG Therapist staff.
  • Attend either in-person or via remote access, at least one training session / administrative meeting per month (3-4 hours).
  • Strongly self-motivated.
  • Strong collaborative work ethic.
  • Reliable schedule compliance.
 

Education and Training

Required:

  • Verifiable professionally published experience of at least 3 years.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience writing RPG, LARP, and/or CRPG adventures.
  • Minimum 2+ years experience related to therapeutic recreation / recreational therapy.
  • Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification.

 

Optional but preferred:

  • Other RPG Related certifications/training.
  • Recreation /event management training/certification.
  • Bachelors degree
  • Other therapeutic and recreation certification, training, degrees, licensing.
  • 5+ years GM experience.
  • 5+ years experience with TR/RT professional field experience.

Working Conditions

Role-Playing Game Writer I may have the option to work remotely most of the time, but may be required to periodically attend RPG Therapeutics offices or other locations for training, staff meetings, or at least attend via remote access.

Hours: Varies

Job Type Options available include: Contract / Per Project / Hourly / Salary / Part Time / Full Time.

Compensation: Varies, but beginning rate around $20+/hr depending on experience.

Interview process currently underway. Possible contract test-run may be requested prior to final hiring. Employment would begin some time in 2018.
